New 12" in stores March 17th! - KRKN004

KRKN004:

B-side: RUF – "Want Some Crack?"

Natasja – Ildebrand I Byen (2000F remix):
The female Danish reggae/dancehall toaster and deejay Natasja was on the way to gain worldwide recognition, when she tragically was killed in a car crash in Jamaica in the summer of 2007. As the first ever non-Jamaican she had won the prestigious Irie FM Big Break Contest in 2006. Since the age of 13 Natasja had worked exclusively with Reggae and Dancehall, and performed and recorded with artists such as Sly & Robbie, Mad Professor, Elephant Man, Ninja Man and many more. Just before she sadly passed away, Natasja had recorded what was to become her first and last album in Danish. It has sold over 70.000 units, and the first single, Ildebrand i Byen has been remixed by Kraken Recordings’ very own 2000F. It has received a rave response in Denmark, and now Kraken Recordings proudly presents the remix on vinyl.
R.I.P Natasja 1974-2007

RUF – Want Some Crack?:
“Hey! What’s up, guys? You want some crack?” is the hilarious catch phrase of Kraken Recording’s latest RUF (aka DJ JSL) release. This is a sure-shot dancefloor filler with extremely heavy wobble basslines, wicked Reggae-samples, and a surprising Soca-inspired carnival breakdown. Whistles and horns crew! Want Some Crack has been rinsed heavily on the UK radio stations, as RUF continues to put Copenhagen, Denmark on the map with his signature basslines and beats. nd has pushed them to be seen as one of the UK’s current hottest production outfits.

Kraken Recordings 004 will be released March 17th 2008, and will be terrorising the seven seas and Dubstep raves around the world!

"Order" / "Noise of The OHOI!" - KRKN003

KRKN003:
A-side: Even – "Order"
B-side: Obeah – "Noise For OHOI!"

Even - Order sound clip
Obeah - Noise of The OHOI! sound clip

KRKN 003 features two distinct tunes from producers Even and Obeah, recorded and mixed in the heart of the bass-heavy Moremax Studio, Copenhagen and mastered at Transition Studios, London. A sure-shot combination!

Even – "Order":
“Order” is the very first release of Even, whom since the very beginning of the Dubstep scene has been well-known for his outstanding music productions. His style is unique featuring a mellow soundscape, catchy melodies and a sub-driven bass that will turn you inside out! Kraken Recordings is proud to feature Even’s very first release, and hope you will enjoy it too. This is a seriously deep and heavy 4x4 tune for those early morning ravers.

Obeah – "Noise For OHOI!":
This is the second release of Obeah, one of the many monikers of Kraken Recordings’ very own DJ 2000F. We predict the reggae-influenced “Noise For OHOI!” will do as much damage on the dance floors around the World as “Copenhagen Massive” did (featured on KRKN001). “Noise For OHOI!” features a vocal sample of MC legend Juiceman, recorded in Copenhagen way back in 2004. A salute to the famous OHOI! crew in Denmark of which Kraken is a proud part of.

Kraken Recordings 003 will be released September 17th 2007 via S.T. Holdings LTD distribution, and will be terrorising the sevenseas and Dubstep raves around the world!

Statements:
These tunes do all the talking. Two incredibly musical tunes from Even and Obeah. Dubstep music doesn’t really get much better than this. Sounds big in the club, in the car, in the office....
anywhere.

"Raw Love" / "The Solution" - KRKN002

KRKN002:
A-side: RUF – Raw Love
B-side: Scandalous Unlimited – The Solution

RUF - Raw Love sound clip
Scandalous Unltd. The Solution sound clip

The second imprint of Kraken Recordings, the new Danish dubstep label, features tunes from two of the most promising dubstep producers of the moment: Copenhagen-based RUF (a.k.a. JSL a.k.a. Wolf Man) and London-based Scandalous Unltd. (of the True Tiger crew).

The A-side features the mighty “Raw Love”, one of the most talked-about and hyped tunes on the prominent dubstepforum.com. The B-side holds a close-kept secret track from the wellknown producer team behind the successful True Tiger Recordings: “The Solution”, a certain dance floor smasher with an amazing bass line that will destroy every sound system and send the crowd into a pull-up frenzy! Statements quoted below, tell of a much-anticipated second release from the Danish bass connoisseurs of Kraken Recordings.

RUF:
JSL (aka RUF and Wolf Man) has since the mid-90´s been a prominent feature in Denmark on both the Techno, House and Hip Hop scenes, however current productions are focused mainly on the bass-heavy Dubstep as well as Grime and Bashment. Since 1995 JSL has released several recordings on both Danish and American labels combined with remix work for numerous Danish artists. Furthermore, he’s one fourth of one of the most successful and best established event/sound system crews in Copenhagen – OHOI! and head of graphic designs for both OHOI! and Kraken Recordings.

Scandalous Unltd.:
Production duo and DJ outfit Scandalous Unltd. hail from Watford, north of London. Duo Stanza & Gowers signed their first production deal with Polydor Records, but after two years Scandalous Unltd. decided that they would start their own label, True Tiger Recordings. From this point on the boys have been causing a stir with their production on the underground dance music scene in the UK. More recently Scandalous Unltd. have produced for the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Sway, Plan B, Wiley, Asher D, Ny, Purple Simba, amongst others. Their unpredictable stand out sound has pushed them to be seen as one of the UK’s current hottest production outfits.

Release date:
Kraken Recordings 002 is released 16th of July 2007, and will be terrorising the seven seas and dubstep raves around the world!

Statements:
RUF – Raw Love is wicked! Feelin’ the vibe on that – big beats. Scandaloud Untld – The Solution. is a banger for the club. Lovin’ the bassline!.
- D1, UK

KRKN 002 = big speaker business on each tune. HEAVYWEIGHT RELEASE! Watch your speakers…..and the dance floor ! Big up sir !

The first release of the new Danish dubstep label, Kraken Recordings, is definitely certain to make Denmark known for more than just bacon, street riots, and the Vikings of old. Kraken 001 features tunes from two of the most promising producers in Copenhagen: Obeah’s Copenhagen Massive and Wolf Man’s Eye of the Demon.

What started as tunes shared with other up-and-coming producers via the influential dubstepforum.com, has since been recognized as groundbreaking productions by the established international DJs. Statements quoted below, tell of a first release from Kraken Recordings that might turn into a tomorrow’s dubstep classic. Despite Kraken 001 being the debut release of both Obeah and Wolf Man, both producers have (under different monikers) released several records since the mid-90´s – as well as being part of the award-winning Danish crew, OHOI!

Obeah – Copenhagen Massive:
The absolute anthem of the Danish dubsteppers!
Obeah (a.k.a. DJ and producer 2000F) has created a catchy but heavy, half-steppin’ floor-filler, inspired by dub reggae and jungle. This unique salute to the crews of the Capital city features a vocal sample of Supa Mikes, the legendary ambassador of everything Jamaican in Denmark. Copenhagen Massive has circulated with the biggest DJs on dubplate, getting instant calls for “rewinds”, due to the immense jump-up bass line and the haunting, characteristic melodica melody.

Wolf Man – Eye of the Demon:
Featuring bass frequencies from the depths of a 1000 fathoms, Wolf Man (a.k.a. DJ and producer JSL) has created a dubstep beast of magnitude that will send the crowd rattling to the floor. Eye of the Demon is all about dark, evil atmospheres, bone-shattering drums, and eerie vocal samples smothered with dub effects. “There’s no stopping what can’t be stopped, no killing what can’t be killed!”

Kraken Recordings 001 is being released the 16th of April 2007, and will be terrorising the seven seas and dubstep raves around the world!

Statements:
Hi, this is Skream. Was just listening to your beats on ya myspace sound tuff!!!! Was really feeling the Copenhagen Massive track.
- Skream, UK

The intro on Copenhagen Massive is sick. I mean it. Sick. The drums, the fx, the bass, the vibe, it’s all perfect. Copenhagen is my favourite city in the world. I would live there tomorrow if it wasnt so frikin expensive.
- Vex´d, UK

I’ll definitely give them a spin where I can!!
- Plastician, UK

I played Eye of the Demon at our club, the bass was thumping and the crowd was digging!! Yeah this shit is HEAVY!! Thing drops down on you like a freaking hammer!! Massive tune... respect from Berlin!
- Robotic, Germany

ABOUT

Kraken Recordings:
Formed in 2006, Kraken Recordings is the first Danish label specialising in Dubstep, Grime, and progressive sounds beyond. Based in Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark, Kraken Recordings is operated by OHOI! – an award winning crew of four producers, DJs and event organizers. Kraken Recordings is primarily focused on Danish artists, however international artists will also be featured on the label. Kraken promos are already being played heavily on both UK, European, and International radios, including Rinse FM, BBC, Sub FM, Breaks FM, and the Danish Broadcast – as well as receiving support from major DJs across the globe.

Kraken Recordings mission:
Kraken Recordings will provide a solid opportunity for Danish and International artists to attain worldwide exposure, while introducing Denmark as a significant music factor in the global Dubstep and Grime communities.

The Kraken:
The Kraken is a legendary sea monster of gargantuan size, for centuries said to have been seen off the coasts of Scandinavia, pulling vessels and seamen to a cold and dark grave. The extreme size and fearsome appearance attributed to the beast have made the Kraken the most feared creature of the sea. Kraken derives from the old Scandinavian word “krake”; designating an unhealthy animal, or something twisted.
